The Long Game: Why I'm Building a Business Worth 8 Figures
There is a goal I've quietly carried with me for years.
By the time I turn 50, I want to sell my business.
Not just sell it.
Sell it for eight figures.
Today, it's worth six figures.
That means the next seven years are not simply about growing revenue. They're about intentionally building a business that becomes exponentially more valuable.
That shift has changed how I make decisions.
It has changed where I invest my time, my energy, and my resources.
Most importantly, it has changed how I define success.
Because I am no longer building a business that depends on me.
I am building an asset.
And I believe every entrepreneur should think this way, whether selling their business is part of their future or not.
Revenue Is Not the Goal Value Is
For a long time, many entrepreneurs are taught to chase revenue.
More sales.
More clients.
More growth.
While revenue matters, it is only one measure of a healthy business.
A valuable business is built differently.
It is profitable.
It has systems.
It delivers consistent customer experiences.
It can continue creating value beyond the founder.
When you begin treating your business like an asset instead of simply a source of income, every decision starts to look different.
You stop asking, "How can I make more money this month?"
And you start asking, "How can I build something that becomes more valuable every year?"
That mindset changes everything.
Every Decision Should Increase the Value of the Business
Once I committed to thinking long term, I started making decisions through a different lens.
Is this increasing the value of the company?
Or is it simply keeping me busy?
For me, that has meant focusing on a few key priorities.
Investing in profitability before chasing revenue.
Building technology, operations, and systems that allow the business to grow beyond me.
Creating a team capable of delivering exceptional experiences.
Diversifying revenue streams.
Building meaningful relationships long before I need them.
And remaining relentlessly focused on the customer and what they actually need to succeed.
None of these decisions create overnight success.
But together, they create something much more important.
A business that becomes increasingly valuable over time.
The Businesses That Last Are Built to Operate Without Their Founder
One of the biggest mindset shifts I've experienced is realizing that the goal is not to become indispensable.
The goal is to build something that continues creating value even when you're not in the room.
Many entrepreneurs unknowingly build businesses that cannot function without them.
Every decision flows through them.
Every relationship depends on them.
Every opportunity requires them.
That creates dependence, not value.
A truly valuable business has documented systems.
Strong leadership.
Clear operations.
Exceptional customer experiences.
It becomes bigger than the person who started it.
That is the kind of business I want to build.
The Future Belongs to Businesses That Invest in Humans
There is another decision I've become increasingly confident about.
I'm betting big on humans.
We're living in one of the fastest periods of technological advancement we've ever seen.
Artificial intelligence is transforming industries at remarkable speed, and investment continues flowing into technology companies around the world.
Technology will absolutely change how we work.
But there is something it cannot replace.
Human connection.
Community.
Trust.
Shared experiences.
Being in the room with other people.
That is becoming even more valuable, not less.
Some of the world's fastest-growing companies are proving exactly that.
Organizations built around community, belonging, and human connection continue attracting significant investment because people are searching for something technology alone cannot provide.
The future is not AI versus humans.
The future is technology supporting stronger human relationships.
And I believe businesses that understand that will create extraordinary long-term value.
Why We Built The Elleiance Network
This belief sits at the heart of The Elleiance Network.
We are not simply building another networking organization.
We are building an ecosystem where Canadian women entrepreneurs can access the relationships, conversations, accountability, and opportunities that help businesses grow.
Because growth rarely happens in isolation.
It happens through proximity.
The right introductions.
The right collaborators.
The right mentors.
The right conversations at exactly the right time.
That is why we continue investing in people.
Because while technology will continue changing the way we work, meaningful human connection will always remain one of the most valuable assets an entrepreneur can build.

Build Something Bigger Than Yourself
Whether I eventually sell my business or not almost becomes secondary.
Because building a business like an asset changes the way you lead today.
It encourages better decisions.
Stronger systems.
Healthier growth.
Greater profitability.
And ultimately, more freedom.
Success is not simply about building something that pays you.
It is about building something that creates value for employees, customers, communities, and perhaps one day, another owner.
That is the long game.
And I believe it is one worth playing.
